I have a couple of old gals that I've know for many years that are now in the nursing home. Schrempy (my little lady friend) went with me and thoroughly enjoyed our visit. On our way out we visited her Aunt who also resides in the home. Her Aunt is blessed with a very unique Alzheimer's. This little lady was very busy and productive in her younger years, raised a family and had a active life. In her now Alzheimer's ridden existence nothing has changed. In her mind she is very busy and is continuing to run and maintain this huge nursing home with a great sense of pride. She believes the nursing home is her home that she maintains and goes to work in an office, helping the Doctor every day.
When I left I couldn't help but to think that if I were stricken ed with this terrible ailment that my world would continue with all the activities that I loved hunting fishing and metal detecting.

It's great that you visit, even if they sometimes forget who you are.
My Mom is 89, & sometimes want's to know if I'me her Son or Brother.
One man was asked why he went to see his wife who had no idea who he was, he answered: but I know who she is.

Fossis...............

My Grandmother is 95 and starting to forget things, too. An aweful way to go out of this world. I was watching a documentary a few weeks ago on the disease. They are making progress in the treatment but may be years away.
