Visiting Phoenix AZ. want to detect gold nuggets

Does anyone have any suggestions for accessible places in and around the Phoenix area where I would be able to detect for gold nuggets? Vulture Mountains seems to be operated by Maricopa County Parks, and they don't allow detecting.

West of Phoenix..... Quartzsite area. Go to a BLM office and buy regional maps showing open BLM land. Be careful! Claim jumping is taken seriously in AZ. ╦╦C

The areas around Quartzsite are all along interstate 10. For $20 you can become a member of the Quartzsite Metal Detecting Club for a year. They have claims and they are "straight shooters". Go see them at Miner's Depot..... or call first. ╦╦C

Two clubs have claims not far from Phoenix, GPAA and Roadrunners. Bill Southern has a shop on Rte 60 just southeast of Wickenburg that specializes in gold detecting and I think they give lessons. There are places up the Little San Domingo wash where some gold is detected. Contact Tnet member Terry Solomon, he also has a gold hunting school in AZ and knows a lot about it. You MUST become familiar with claim markers, there are claims all over and you can walk over most, but NEVER hunt or dig on one that isn't a club's that you are a member of or own. Bill Southern also has a gold prospector's get- together every early November up in the Little San Domingo wash, you should try to get aboard the next one if you are serious about gold detecting your area. If you follow my posts, you would know I found gold on the Q Club claims on three occasions. Not much, but it is there! ╦╦C
