Not being a jerk, but does that chart mean dig EVERYTHING between a 40 and a 93? Also what are the readings of the same targets buried to the point of being barely detectable? I suppose much lower numbers?

Sounds like you have spent some time testing! Hopefully targets you have recovered!

Both good points - Yes if you want to find Gold your going to have to dig everything from 40 thru 60 but for my use that would mean alot of trash. This isn't unique to the Vortex though (on every machine you have to dig trash to find small gold rings) and on most hunts I would dig above 50 if the signal was repeatable and did not have an iron grunt to it. The VDI would likely begin to fall off entirely or bounce as each target reached it's barely detectable range.. I can't say what depth that is with the stock coil and my ground conditions would vary from someone else. This was just meant to be an aid to anyone who wanted it. I have found all of these targets over the years with different machines with the exception of the gold coin. I'm still looking for my first gold coin
