Some history:
This 7/8" brass presidential campaign token or medal is likely from 1840, (although it's not dated), back when William Henry Harrison ran for the presidency on the Whig Party ticket against incumbent Martin van Buren. Because of Harrison's propaganda machine he became known as "the people's candidate" and "The Hero of Tippecanoe", which was a fight with Native Americans just before the War of 1812. His memorabilia had log cabins and hard cider barrels on them, even though he was born in Virginia on a plantation and, even if he may have used log cabins while Governor of The Indiana Territory, he certainly wasn't raised in one. In fact he built a 13-room plantation-style house in Vincennes, one of the first brick dwellings in that area. Ever since Harrison's time and previously, with Andrew Jackson, presidential candidates have resorted to creating a myth about themselves to serve their expedient political purposes.

Dug this up this morning. This particular one is from 1840. Found his presidential token last year. He must have been popular for his really short term.
