Wagon Pieces

My wife and I found these out digging today. One of the pieces is a hitch to a wagon and the other piece assuming its also was part of the wagon has a patent date of November 1879. Not pictured we also found what appears to have been a food container. I'm not sure what type of wagon this might have been from. The area I'm digging in has a history that goes a good ways back.
