Walking in to work this morning I found a $10 bill in the gutter. After that I was scanning for more and on the other side of the street a block down was an iPhone in the gutter right on the sewer grate.

Got in to work, dried it thoroughly, charged it, powered right up, not a scratch on it! Not locked, saw lots of messages from "wife" and others multiple missed calls from same number, tracked down the owner and he's on his way to pick it up!

Thats $35 found this year in the streets (a $20, a $5 and a $10), I gotta remember to look! And satisfaction of finding the owner of a device that surely is heartbreaking to lose!

Walk Looking everyone!

If you walked to work in Minnesota today - you would freeze to death!! Good post though, I look all around as I am walking, have found many items.

Oh, BTW Henry - Not to be too critical of Chicago but......I was there 2 days ago. 10 South Canal Street.

I hate the traffic, the tolls, too many people, and I pay wayyyyyy too much for parking - $34.00 for 5 hours - sheeesh!!!!

Thats big city life for ya! Next time try those parking apps like spot hero. They can find deals, but parking is always terrible. I'm lucky to have found a spot indoors for $210 a month!

Great job on returning the iPhone to the owner.
HONORABLE MENTION is in order. :hello2:

Congrats on the greenbacks you found too!

I literally couldn't imagine living in the larger cities. Work frequently in Chattanooga, Nashville, and Knoxville and love to visit from time to time but definitely not for me. Paying that for parking blows my mind. Even in our larger cities parking is only a few bucks. Amazing when you think of it how so many of us share common interests, yet our day to day lives differ to the extreme. I have made my living in insurance for over 20 years, and been tempted a few times to take a job in the larger cities but just couldn't do it. I often go to work in Carhartt's and Muck boots this time of year. Usually have a deer rifle, hunting clothes, and backpack just in case an appointment cancels or I have an early day. In January the rifle will be replaced with the Teknetics T2 again.

I hear ya, TN. I lived in Oklahoma City for about 13 years during my life. Country and small town life is where it's at for me. I grew up in a very rural part of Kentucky and couldn't wait to see what was out there in the world. I have come full circle.
Congrats on the finds and the return. I can't imagine paying that for parking. I haven't even found that much clad all year, lol.

Nice thanks for sharing.. Kudos on the return of the I phone.

No reward offered, but a very happy guy and a chance to pass on a little Holiday Cheer. He said he was surprised someone would return it and I stated I was a Metal Detectorist and that we have a code that if a find can be traced back to the owner it would be returned. :)

Great finds and a great service to hobby and community to find the owner of the phone! WTG!

But, you mean people still ACTUALLY WALK to work!!!?
With all the traffic on the road nowadays, I didn't think anyone walked to anywhere anymore! LOL

That is the one bonus, I live about a 10 minute walk away! The car I keep downtown because its more of a toy and for trips out to the Suburbs. I just couldn't let go of my 1986 Fiero GT! It keeps me sane driving the empty city streets late at night.

Way to go HenryWJJr.!!!! And that you threw in a good word for the hobby you should get 2 honorable mentions!
Parking in Boston is just as pricey if you can find any! Then so is NYC.

I used to walk my dog in a suburb of LA. Over the course of a few years I found a 14k gold earring stud, 2 silver rings (both run over-- one had 3 amethyst stones that were all crunched up!) several junk rings and earrings, $30 in paper money, a cell phone (returned), a Justin Timberlake (?!) doll, buttons, keys, various tableware, a magnet, a pry bar in the bushes (reported to police), a license plate (from a stolen vehicle - reported to police!) and some fire extinguishers.

Meanwhile, my dog found 2 cats (that got away!), a raccoon (scary-- he backed away, a very wise move on his part, and the raccoon went up a tree!), a 'possum (which both he and I thought he killed, until I came out to box it up and bury it, at which point it shook itself and walked away!) and friends that would come over and pet him.

and I get frustrated when I can not park in front of the office here in a town of 1900, yes nineteen hundred people LOL. No parking meters here!
