Since I've been looking at this site, I've been checking my pocket change for collectible coins. I hadn't found anything except copper Lincolns (which I'm hoarding) until I went into Walmart to buy a few items
As I walked back to my truck, I glanced at my change and did a double- take.; A '56 Rosie!
It makes you wonder where the coin has been since 1965- in a bank vault, in some old codger's coin jar, or floating around in circulation and escaping capture until now?

Neat! It's interesting that it got by for so long without being spotted. There's so many of us now that check our change...and our friends change...and family members ;D

I got caught going through the "give a penny take a penny" thing at the gas station not too long ago. I planned on trading if I found something, but try explaining that to the clerk! I didn't even realize I was doing anything wierd.

Cool, silver has that certain look and clank that is unmistakable. Nice going!

You would be surprised at how much silver is still in circulation, especially from WallyWorld. A friend of mine works the cash office at the one supercenter in town here and he saves all of the silver coins that come into the office (the change machine that rolls it rejects them all ) and he buys them for face value and then saves them for me. I usually end up with a handful or two every month. Mostly silver rosies, but he has saved Mercs and silver quarters from being recirculated.....I am certainly lucky to have a friend who crosses paths with thousands of dollars in coins every month! The last time I got silver back in change though was a few months ago from Burger King. I got a 1954 silver quarter back in my change, his hair had been painted bright red and had green eyes ???, but silver none the less.

In my younger bar hopping days I could always tell when the change hit the bar that there was some silver there.
Change at a liquor store sometimes held a keeper or two. ;D

It happens! I went to Bojangles last week for a chicken biscuit and I saw 2 pennies on the pavement where I parked. I picked them up and one was a 1944 wheatie.
