Want info. on Satellite imaging

Could someone tell me what it would cost to use satellite imaging on a site. I'm interested in this, and know the cost cannot be nailed down to one price. Any info would help. The second one, you have to download a program, but the images are in color, and more detailed than the other site.
All of the pictures at this site are supposed to be within just a few years old, with new additions all the time...

Hi,

I'm not sure how you intend to use the imagery but, in general the resolution won't be much better than ~1m square. That's good for seeing modest surface detail: sidewalks, small trees, pathways, etc. The down side is the cost. Commercial remote sensing products can be purchased from the USGS (see landsat, and Hyperion), Ikonos, Space Imaging, and others. This will be either panchromatic or multispectral. The panchromatic will be the best resolution and you would need specialized software to deal with the spectral imagery (Eniv, Erdas, PCI, TnTMips).

On the other hand, you could look into the National High Altitude Photography Program (NHAP) which covers most of the country. This data is airborne panchromatic imagery taken from ~40k ft. This imagery can be purchased from the usgs, souix falls, sd. The resolution is very good (<1m).

So, what can you do with it? Seeing individual relics is out ;( Next best would seem to be in site research. You could answer the questions 'what's over the hill', 'how do I get up there?', and so forth.
