It is a 1942 P . All I know is it's one of the war nickels. And it is my first silver of the year.

Congrats on your War nickel! I found my first one last week. The very next day I got another one in pocket change!

FYI the war nickels used a combination of silver and copper. Nickel was needed for plate armor during WWII.

Neil in W. Jersey is right... 56% Copper, 35% Silver, and 9% manganese. Take a closer look at the date and Jefferson's eye too. There are two mint defects (3 over 2 and doubled eye) that if present can be worth more $$$!

Good luck!

MMMM WAR NICKELS..... Nice find

Looks great, Tim! Congrats on that find!

Nana :)

That's a good looking nickel Tim---Nice find

Wow, that nickel is almost as old as me! Way to go!
