OPERATIONS AT CRANEY ISLAND: THE WAR OF 1812 plus map.
Lossing's Field Book of the War of 1812, Chapter XXX - Predatory Warfare of the British on the Coast.
I was conducting some research and came across this chapter with a very good description when England landed 2,500 Redcoats on the beach at Hoffler Creek. From reading it, seems a lot of lead got flung from both directions.
