Hey y'all. Its rough and covered in crud but wanted to share this button found yesterday with vmiairpwr07 near Charleston, SC. I believe its a War of 1812 Regiment of Artillerists copper button. Cant make out the regiment yet but will post more pics when its a little more cleaned up. I've posted a pic of one in better shape for comparison as well. Happy hunting!

Great find. I look forward to seeing how it cleans up. Be sure and post the pictures of it please. Hope you get the regiment #. Good luck!

Nice find and with the 250. I've found a lot of things with mine.

Wow that was a rough signal to lock on! I know because I found the sister to that button - a second regiment artillerists button from 1812. Nice rare button ya got. I hope this helps. Congrats

Very nice button. Congrats. Always special when you find a military button.

Thanks Scrappy. Is that image from Albert's military button book? I just ordered one off eBay.

My dad found the same one yesterday only it has a number two on it. Here it is.

Well 3 months of mineral oil, electrolysis and tooth picking later and I'm throwing in the towel. I'm worried if I clean it any more I'll snap it or wear off all the green patina. I was able to get enough of the 200 years of salt crud off the bottom to read the "2" and have confirmed its from the 2nd regiment. Thanks for looking!

Nice piece of history

Still a great piece of history!

Very nice digs.

Nice find there...hope you get it cleaned up better...don't take any chances though...

Nice work Gheenoe, honestly I didn't think there was much chance of getting more details out it. EVOO and your efforts certainly helped to enhance the remaining details. Can't wait to get back to the honey hole!
