Earlier I was reading about battles in the Pacific during World War 2 and came across one I had never heard of. The Battle of Noemfoor. It was a small Japanese occupied island which was invaded by Allied forces in 1944 and taken.

As I was reading about the important locations on the island, I punched it up in Google Earth only to discover that there wasn't much in the way of resolution. But I lucked out. When I was checking out the general area of Hill 670, I noticed a rectangular object visible between the trees.

Here is a screen grab. Any ideas on what it could be?

And here is a copy of the island battle plan for reference:

Did you try looking at it on bingmaps they sometimes have a better picture of an area. I prefer google earth but its good way to double check.

Great suggestion. I was just checking that out. But that spot is under thick cloud cover on bing maps.
