Hey Folks. Gathered a bunch of my recent junk, er ah, treasure and decided I'd post. Spent last weekend along the Rock River in northern Illinois. Not much really exciting but, I did find the old Harriet Hubbard Ayer Cosmetic lid in the river Sunday. It has to be pretty old according to the research I did on the gal. Did all these cosmetic folks end up in insane asylums?:dontknow::tongue3: Very interesting history surrounding the gal. I tried doing some field digging yesterday and got some more iron for my troubles. The ground was dry as heck and digging with my Predator shovel was not working so I quit pretty quick. I hunt an old school in my town and have hammered it pretty good. Some folks cleared some brush and trees opening up some more swinging spots. My first target dug today at about one inch was a 1911 D Barber Dime. YAY!:hello2: I was expecting maybe a clad Rosie and was quite surprised and pleased. I also got the set of keys and the cool Hot Wheels car. The item left of the Barber looks like a small rosette and I don't even remember where I dug it. The temps are dropping and the farmers are getting their crops in so things are looking up. We still need a few days straight of soaking rain to help with signals and digging. Thanks for stopping by. That's a sweet Barber. Looks like you had a pretty good outing....lots of targets with some neat stuff mixed in there...Congrats !!

yep, the next couple months should be much better for hunting weather wise...

Nice finds and sweet silver! Congrats!!

It would most likely be a Northern Pike. Possibly a Muskie but, more rare down this way. It was a BIG one too. Although mostly decayed it must have been over 36 inches I suspect. Toothy!;D

Lots of finds, it's looking good for you!

Nice work! Good looking Barber. I got some permissions for fields in western Lee...but even my Sampson isn't liking this concrete that's passing for dirt. 😞 I need some rain...lotsa rain...so I can get back into Tri-County!
