I assume then that you will be searching freshwater beaches there in Canada, then? You hear so much about the Excal at the shore, I would really like to hear about it's performance in fresh water.

I went back to Canada this morning with my Excalibur 1000. Still too early in the swim season to make a profit. I do love it there though. I found $5.73 in change and a lot of pull tabs and bottle caps. I,m starting to like this detector. It is nice not to find nails, tacks or hair pins. The rings will come after the 4th of July. Mike.

Mike you said you found alot of pull tabs, Sandy at minelab told me last year, and also this past week at my Cancer doctors office They are collecting them,

Every gallon jug full will allow a child a free one day chemotherapy treatment.

Mike, you will find the Excal's extra depth will find those deeper targets from past swim seasons. True the up coming season will have newly lost items, but you will now locate the deeper targets. There is no mistaking the sound of a Canadian Quarter. Plus you guys have the Loonie's and Toonies to find. Don't forget to wear the polarized sunglasses to help spot the paper money on the bottom.

Good Luck,
Sandman

Sandman, thanks for the tips. I already use your tip on a chest mount, and the 11.00 o'clock setting. The water was too rough to get out in the deeper water where I think the older stuff is. I like the detector. I did find a few can. quarters and 2 twoes. It seems to pick up all Can. coins but loonies. [ too much iron in them]. I found 1 lon but that was dumb luck, it came up with a bottle cap. Your the difenetly the water man. thanks Mike.

Dahut, I can only compare my excalibur to my 2 1280 Fishers. I like the 1280's,but you have to dig a LOT more junk with them than with the Exca. The Exca, does't see iron. I was hunting in close to shore. I can't do that with my 1280's. Too many nails and iron junk. Another thing I like about the Exca. is it battery configeration. I don't see any chance of water leaking in. A few times with my 1280's they stoped working. I opened the battery compt. and it was full of water. Fresh water, but water is water. The Exca. costs more but I think it will pay for itself in 1 season. Good luck. Mike.
