"Ike" sure has the water high on the gulf side of Florida! I've never seen it so high but then I've only been water hunting since this past April. I did go out for a short while this morning but where I was able to hunt - was previously dry sand! I am real leery about getting out too far since I had my experience of stepping in a hole and getting taken by the current a couple weeks ago. My day was not a total washout but pretty close. I did manage one heavily encrusted penny, one quarter, one large sinker, a bottle cap and 3 toy cars/trucks (all in the same hole) Guess the kid buried them so he wouldn't have to carry them home! ::) Well I got out and that was the main thing. It would have been nice to find some gold though.... **sigh**

Great cars and trucks you got there! My 7 year old could care less whether I find a ring or not when I go to the beach. He just wants to know if I've found any hot wheels for him :tongue3:

nice job my little one loves the cars too.

make sure you hunt when the water starts to recede

yep, mumzie, the gulf got into the previously dry stuff. I can't wait to hit the beach on saturday morning. The guy I hunt with said it was over 100 ft up the beach from where it normally is. It had to take some sand with it.

I know you're from up the county, but the water was over the seawalls here in Pinellas Point and down around the Skyway today. Thats pretty high.

Yeah you are farther south than I am but I've heard from a few other MD'ers down your way and I keep hearing the same thing over and over. HIGH WATER!

You are right, Mumszie....It is nice to get out....
