Sadly no date or location noted when this sketch was made
a clue? in the right background appears to be part of a hill slope...Waud did do sketchs of the dead in Devils den....possibly Little Round top hill..but not proven?

I have gone to locations of a painting and scratched the head wondering how could the artist be so wrong.
Meaning the topography wasn't what the picture depicted, the actual permission is nearly flat.
Artists put hills and other things that were not actually there.
