As you may have seen, BedfordBob, DeArmittPA, Life is Good, my son Mach II and I headed to Northern Virginia on Saturday for some relic hunting... We had a great time hunting primarily two different spots, the more successful hunt was at either a calvary camp or more likely a picket post... This is a return trip to a site we hunted last spring for the first time, with some success.
Anyhow, even though we all joked on the drive to the site about bringing home 10 belt plates, (one for each of us of the US and CS variety, of course!) none were to be found on this day....
But we did find a few nice relics... I dug two rosettes - one lead and one a brass US type. Surprisingly, the only military button to be found was the last signal I had of the day, its the small bent cuff button. Every time I look at it I'm convinced there is an C in the middle... then I change my mind to an I.... either way I'll take it!
The amazing part about it though was that it was right on top of the dirt!
Of course, we had a few unknowns as well.... I'm real curious if the brass tag has any roots to the military...
I think the silver colored item in the top corner is the tip of weather vane
And I think between the 5 of us we almost filled a 5 gallon bucket with junk.
Bob is already plotting a return trip to this site...
well I guess I can say I am too.
we still have a few spots to check and see if we can find the decent sized camp that we think was supposed to be on the property we have available to us...
