Sometimes it's just fun to get out of the nail infested low coin woods to dig clad -

50 dimes! The rotten zincs were reading as low as 70 - solid copper at 80-81. 2 wheats, and a small Canada spill - first Canadian dime and nickel.

Also found my first Ground hornet nest - only 3 stings on hand as I was running away!

Nice coin hunt! :icon_thumleft:

Those ground hornets are a nasty lot. Twice in my life I was stung by a large group (15+ & 21+ times). One (15+) was when removing the erosion control hay bales around my new home and the second (21+) was while volunteering at a local school to help clean-up the area. Those hornets chased me for 1/4 mile stinging and biting all the way. Some even got under my T-shirt...very bad experience.

Great dig especially since it was so hot.

Wow! Your Hornet experiences would have ruined my weekend !

Thank God, I'm not allergic (still hurt) to bee/hornet stings! :hello2: Otherwise, with that many at once I would be flying with the Angels. :dontknow:

Great haul there. I assume the place is littered with pulltabs and that's why only 4 nickles. Have you ever tried digging all the mid tones to see if you can find a little yella? It can get old, but once that glitter shows itself, well worth it. Congratulations on a fine outing.

Thank you kindly for the congrats! You're right, pull tabs, bottle caps get old, but if I'm gonna find my first gold, I have to buckle down on the mids.

Ran over a nest a few years back...Little S.O.B's were chasing me on a riding lawnmower...went back over that nest about 10-12 times with the riding lawnmower...:laughing7: :laughing7: :laughing7:

Nice amount of clad. Congrats

Wow, impressive haul! My knees are aching just looking at that pile! Way to be persistent and dig all those coins.

Your back sore? Congrats, that's a lot of digging.:headbang:

Being less than 5' tall, I have less distance to the ground - and a shot of Kahlua in the morning coffee helps loosen up! :headbang:

Sounds like my terrible ordeal when I was five. Me and sister swinging back and forth on this hollow horse thing on the swing set. Was filled with a hornet nest and suddenly all over us. We ran screaming to the house while being chased and stung. Probably 50-60 stings a piece.
