I wanted to share with you all some of my weekend finds. I found the pottery pieces and the scraper just east of Guyton, Georgia. The soil is very sandy and rocks are not common to this area so when you find any rocks, you can bet it was brought to the area. I have been going to a construction site and I have been finding quite a bit of pottery pieces along with tiny chips but in two visits, I have yet to find any points.
First, I would like to share with you a point that I found while I was spreading dirt that was dug for my father in laws additional basement. this was dirt that came from near a creek that was going through the property at one time but is now diverted. You can see it is 3 1/4 inches and was found near Flint, Michigan. ANyone have a guess as to type of point and rough age period?
Now, on to the finds from this weekend!

Here is a rim piece, you can see it is a 1/2 inch thick
Ok, here is where I believe I found a scraper for a left-handed person. Again, remember, the ground is sandy and this was sticking up out of the ground that was just dug up. it is 3 1/2 inches long and there are two groves, one on each side. One side has a sharp straight edge to it while the other side is jagged.
When I held it in my right hand, there was a sharp piece that would surely bother anyone using this as a tool in their right hand. However, when I held it in my left hand (I am left-handed) it fit like a glove. My index finger fit into one grove while my thumb fit into the other and this left the short sharp edge exposed.
