It looks like a bust facing left on the closeup of the coin. Maybe Carolus of Spain? Size of 1 real?

You could try taking it to a local coin shop and let them put it under a coin Microscope to see if any details become more visible.
Also, you could measure the exact diameter with a set of Calipers and see what coins it matches up to.

Matches exactly to a late 18th century 1 reale at ~ 21.4cm ( it's a bit bent ) and thickness at .09cm
Haven't been able to weigh it yet.
I took your advice am Im taking it to a coin shop here in Raleigh and they are going to look at it under a microscope for me

Its always fun to dig a "mystery" coin. I would guess a 1 real too, but maybe your coin shop will be able to shed some more light. A great find!

Update
I took the coin to Rare Coins of Raleigh and they confirmed 100% Spanish 1 Reale
Even better news the item that I thought was a tag is actually a 1/2 reale from same time period !
I wish they were in better shape but it's at least confirmation the original land owners had been fairly prosperous between these and the virgina half pence i found earlier
