Weekend Hunts: Silver, Wheaties & Hubley Cap Gun

Saturday's Hunt:
I met up with TNet member Todd Lipe on Saturday morning. I secured us permission at a house built in the 1920s. The guy that lives at the house is about 30 and very nice. We were looking for his dad's lost class ring... no luck on that front. The place was undisturbed and had not been hunted.

I managed to score 14 Wheaties (oldest 1918) and a 1943 Merc. I regret to inform you that Todd got 3 silvers, OK enough about that. I also got the usual clad, junk, shell casing, head stamps, old spark plug etc... then a really cool Hubley cap gun appeared beneath the Lesche.

Sunday's Hunt:
I went out on Sunday morning for a little hunt. I hit a couple of random spots, but on found some of that sad clad. After lunch, I went back out. I hit a small house that was built in the 1940s. I got the usual clad and a little trash. I got a nice high tone on the Deus, dug a small plug and out comes a 1943 Merc. That was the second '43 of the weekend. I also managed to get 10 Wheaties and a '69 Canada cent. I don't often dig coins from overseas.

Silver coins number 39 & 40 YTD.

All things considered, it was a good weekend.
Thanks for looking.

Congratulations on the ever growing silver collection. I could be mistaken, but I believe unless you're crossing one of the Great Lakes you can get to Canada without going overseas....LOL

Nice finds Tom. You are slowly creeping up on my silver count of 45. I also have found several of the cap guns and have kept them for some reason.

Thanks John. I am really happy to have gotten 40 silver coins so far. I found my first one less than 7 months ago, so it has been a good first year of hunting. I am shooting for 50 by year's end. Look forward to seeing you soon. GL&HH!

Actually, you can drive to MANY spots along the US and Canadian border and NOT cross one of the Great Lakes. So did you really.....I mean really get me?

No, I guess not. Just my weak attempt at humor.

Beez, you beat me to it! I was gonna ask who the cute girl was that sat in front of him in Geography class, cause he surely didn't pay attention to the teacher, lol!

Nice finds, Tom.

Thank you for sharing your hunt and those pictures with us
