Well you win some, you lose some. Went to 3 new permissions this weekend. Yesterday we went to a pasture where there was a small cavalry skirmish. Walked all day around 4 miles through the pasture and woods. Up hill, down hill, got harassed by a pair of red-shouldered hawks (who I’m sure thought I was harassing them by talking to them lol), blister on the pinky toe, made friends with a snake and almost brought him home in my pocket, shovel fell on the head of hubby’s Garrett and broke it off...that kind of a day. I had some paracord on me and rigged the coil back on, so it still works at least. All we found were tons of spent ammo, not the kind we were hunting. Only cool stuff we found were some bottles, a pretty crusted pocket watch, and I think part of a harmonic reed? I was too tired last night to post anything.
Today we went to another spot where an old house used to be. Nope. Skunked again. Found a 1947 wheat and that’s it. It started getting really hot and we were still tired from yesterday, so we called it quits early. We decided to go drive by the other new permission just to check it out. Ended up joy riding down beautiful back roads down to an old cemetery established in 1840.
The other property was maybe a mile from it. There’s several unknown graves at the cemetery as well as confederate soldiers. We decided to make one final hurrah for about 30 minutes at the field since we were right there at it. More ammo and cans. But we did find this one that we can’t place? We do know the road leading to and passing the cemetery was used during the CW. But nothing we know of happened in this area. Any ideas on this bullet though?
I’m attempting to be hopeful, but at this point, I feel almost too exhausted lol
