it's not a drilled hole, it is rusted through. that was the backing where a photo was. campaign token for Steven Douglas, who ran against Abe Lincoln in the 1860 presidential election. very cool and rare find.
 

sry u could be right its very hard to tell I've tried every angle it looked like it, but my eyes lol

What name is on the presidental token? I can make out H-E-R in the first name and V initial and a S-O-N in the last name...
