My wife & I 'babyset the Grandsons' in my Son's camper while they went to a concert in Tulsa, we camped at a local lake that was flooded in 1948, built by the Corp Of Engineers for flood control.
Many families had to move away & they left behind artifacts that still wash out of the banks, along with Indian flint, the old school was above the water but was abandoned anyway.
The boys loved to beachcomb, & so did Grandpa.

Nice way to spend the weekend, hope the kids didn't wear you out or vice versa. My 14 year old grandson is up here visiting from Mexico. First time in the US and never been camping. I told him I would take him, and I think he is excited, especially about me taking him snipe hunting in the woods.

It sure is, we ran out of time, or we could have gone all day.
I hope you go easy on (his first snipe hunt), I remember mine well. :laughing7:

Hello Fossis, that looks like a real fun place to camp at I enjoyed all your pics. Thanks for sharing your trip.

RGINN, Oh yeah, You will have a great opportunity for both of you to have some memorable times. He can have some
good stories to tell his buddies later. Here's wishing you both the greatest of times.

Will look forward to some pics.

do you use a detector? Seems like you could find a lot of stuff in a cool spot like that.
We took about 6 kids on their first snipe hunt. One of my sons even had t-shirts made up for the ocassion.

Yeah, I have a Whites prizm 11 & a Whites Spectrum, but this is Government land, no detecting allowed.
His Grandson will have a tradition to pass on after his hunt. :laughing7:

Is it federal or state land? We have federal, BLM land, around here and can do a lot of stuff on it. The National Park Service has some regs forbidding detecting in the National Recreation Areas but can detect on other land outside those borders.

It's federal, Corp of Engineers, no collecting artifacts, driftwood, or detecting. :icon_scratch:
