Looks like weathered Magnetite

Thank you kindly. I had a friend tell me the weight was signicantly different from what magnetite would weigh. But this helps

Leon county? Maybe it is a meteorite.

check to see if it has a black streak when used like a piece of chalk. Also if you have a piece of quartz see if you can scratch it. Mohs hardness scale will help you determine what ballpark of stone you are looking at (well mineral at least). A meteorite fragment would be cool

It does have a black streak and quartz does compromise the integrity , however I do not know to which degree. Here is some more pics. Hope it helps. I appreciate your time and attention. You are awesome!!

Please take note the two pics of quartz should be aligned the same way but the tip of the first one has a dark mark on it. That's after I used it on the "piece" . Sorry to dissapoint.

no no that's perfect, it brought us out of the ballpark and down into the field.

Mohs scale section of potential minerals

4 fluorite, iron, nickel
4–4.5 steel
5 apatite (tooth enamel), zirconium, palladium, obsidian (volcanic glass)
5.5 beryllium, molybdenum, hafnium, glass, cobalt
6 orthoclase, titanium, manganese, germanium, niobium, rhodium, uranium
6–7 fused quartz, iron pyrite, silicon, ruthenium, iridium, tantalum, opal, peridot, tanzanite, jade

7-8 would be solid quartz

This is the area I think we are (being very liberal with the range) obviously it's not most of these, but it helps narrow it down.
