Not sure what this is, was giving off all sorts of 70's readings on my AT Gold. Found about 12 inches deep at a park near a tree somewhere in Greater Boston. Don't worry the tree is ok, took me about an hour to get it out..

Anyone have any idea what this was for?

Think it says N.W.W 1877? 20150615_225417.webp20150615_225457.webp20150615_225508.webp

Weighs about 30 lbs.

Oh found a dime in another park right on top laying on the grass20150615_225536.webp, 1912? Kind of bent.

Can't give you a true answer, but digging for an hour would put me in the hospital.I never find dimes that old on top of the grass. Some kid must have plucked it out of his dads collection. The lamp post must have blown your ears off.Did your detector show overload on that big item?

No it was steady, read as most pennys do. I thought I came across a chest or time capsule hah

Nice merc, they where not minted until 1916, maybe a 1918. That's a heck of a junk of iron.

I believe another detectorist may have dropped a recent find and you came by a picked-up a nice merc. Congrats on the silver.
