There used to be a lot of Nazi rallies in the US. Chances are that coin came from someone from Germany who was here promoting the Nazi ideals/values. Yes, is possible that Hitler touched it, but probably not likely.

In any case, awesome find!!

Or it could have come over with a Russian, Polish or Romanian person that was escaping Nazi Germany. To me that is way more cool

There was no Nazi Germany in 1907; it started in '33. Kaiser Wilhelm II was the national leader in '07.
Cool coin!

Good point Pinenut. Haven't exactly gotten all my wires uncrossed yet from that long trip. Still, it is possible that the coin came to America a couple decades after being minted.

Oh yeah... You never know what you'll dig up.
I've got a bunch of Nazi era and older German coins here (my mom's from Bavaria), and who knows where they'll go when I'm gone..
Maybe I'll bury 'em just for fun. ^_^

BTW - I think quite a few Germans were coming to the States early last century; it probably came here with one.

Yes The first permanent German settlement in what became the United States
was Germantown, Pennsylvania, founded near Philadelphia on October 6, 1683.

Gee Jeff, you say that as though you know that area personally. laughing hysterically.gif

Nice find! Just the other day I found an old foreign silver in a dime box. Love finding oddities while searching, keeps the hobby interesting! Good luck on your next box.
