Looks very similar to a Hinge Pin,Most are stainless but depending on the age(1600s Site),It could be a cast pin as well. :dontknow:

Certainly cast iron due to color, weight, and visible casting marks. But I don't think a rivet is quite right, as the head would be semi-spherical (domed, but not round). Perhaps it was part of some decorative fixture?
