I took my seat in the dentist's waiting room beside a less burly fellow than I . I was there for a simple check up . That was enough to inspire abject terror in me , with my phobia of dentists .
"Whatcha here for ?" I asked , trying to allay my own nervousness .
"He pulled 11 of my teeth last week with no anesthetic and I'm here for a followup ,"he replied .
"Jesus ! That must have hurt !"
"Just a minor inconvience . I've only been hurt once in my life ."
"Could you share that story with me ?"I asked .
"I was hunting in a remote area , alone , when I felt a 'call of nature' and squatted my butt in a bush that contained a bear trap that went off ."
"Good Lord ! " I exclaimed ,"That had to have hurt !"
"It was uncomfortable ,"he said ,"It was when I hit the end of the trap chain that it began to
hurt ."
