I'm sure a lot of you read my post yesterday. So today I took my buddy out to where I found that awesome Trime. Needless to say I came up empty handed but it's ok I'm still in shock from yeaterday. My buddy Chris who is my hunting partner and will be features on the youtube channel dug a nice large cent. About 30 minutes later I heard him screaming and I thought he got hurt. I ran over and he was white. In his hand he was holding a 1747 (or 1748) 1/2 or 1 reale Spanish silver!!! It's kind of hard to make out. I couldn't believe it and either could he. We didn't have a whole lot of time today but I have to say it's been a great weekend!!!Haym Solomon Hope to see you all soon! Remeber research pays off!!

Those are a couple nice coins your buddy found. However, that looks a little small to be 2 reales. I could be wrong, but it looks more like a one real, or even a half real. Either way, Spanish silver is always a great find.

It's a possibility I just assumed it just may be

Correction it is a 1 reale

It's a coin minted in Mexico City.
If it's not over 1.69 grams it's a 1/2 R; if between 1.69 and 3.38 grams, it's a 1R coin.
Another way to check: If 16mm= 1/2R; if 20mm=1R.
Either way, its a great save!
Don...

Thanks for the great info I will have him check that out later

Congrats to your buddy, you guys are obviously on a nice old site

Good job

Awesome finds! Congrats!

I hope your buddy has partially recovered by now, or is he walking around mumbling " a Reale....A Reale...." ?
