Ok I’m convinced there’s no silver (which is impossible ugggh) but found these before work. IMG_3252.webpIMG_3253.webpIMG_3254.webp

P.S. I did find this not sure if it’s silver. It has W.S.S. 0.800 Swiss 4.9 with some hand written script scratching in it. Any clue on how to get that orange off if it is. It sounds like silver when it hits the table.IMG_3255.webpIMG_3256.webp

Know what you mean Truth about the lack of silver. Got permission on a early 1900's house last year and the very first coin out of the ground is a 1901 V nickel. Figured some old silver would surface -NOT! Just wheat pennys...

That would be a piece of a pocket watch case and 0.800 is silver. Coin silver is 0.900 so that is a little lower than coin silver but still silver. Congrats.

I know they had a section at a park where I’ve pulled over 30 V nickels no one silver...not even a Buffalo. Weird

Well we’ll well THAT IS AWESOME!!! how can I get that orange stuff off. I have it in lemon juice will that work?

Nice hunt with a few keepers, congratulations! :occasion14:

Nice finds. Congrats

Congrats on your finds. A couple pieces of aluminum foil and some spit rubbed on the surface should remove the orange material. Might need to
Use a wooden skewer as well if it is stubborn.

Tried the spit and foil method and nothing
Not sure what it is but it’s stubborn I can tell you that.

Nice finds! You might try bathing it in Acetone for a few minutes with some rubbing with a finger tip. Make sure to do it quickly and wash off the Acetone quickly as it can be harmful.

Hi, nice finds Congrats. love the old toys.:icon_thumleft: I think your pocket case watch was once painted that orange transparent color, like a clear coat over silver just a lot harder, and has chipped of over the years to leave that small piece behind. its as hard as rock and i think the only way to get it off will be to chip it off carefully. I have found a silver pendant a while ago that has traces of blue paint or something on it that i am struggling to remove. Its as hard as rock
