hey found this item at the auction and couldnt resist.hope its worth the 11 dollars i paid. im a fan of old weird junk.western electric stuff is cool.been around the net and cant tell if its a microphone or a speaker.maybe it aint complete.it is stamped western electric tho.thats my extremely alert guard cat SHRIMP helping me .HA !

I agree shoot it up on Ebay you may get some big $$ the lunch boxes and hot wheels in the pic are slam dunks if you ever want to sell them :thumbsup:

With the magnet and paper remains,I vote for 'speaker'.Western Electric became famous for telephones.
 

that looks like an early model of a radio microphone, later ones were known as a can.
It's probably worth more than what you paid for it
