Well I headed back to my ghost town to look for some oldies but decided to look for Indian artifacts instead with my friend Mike. Looked in a area that was plowed and was md last month after talking to the owner of the land. He told me that his aunt found some relics ages ago mostly points and hammers. Well I scored one which I believe is a Scapper ??? but could be wrong. Did find pottery but looked modern but this was the only one laying on top.

From the shape of it, and the way it sits up, I would suppose it to be a backed knife, IA :hello:

Got any pic of others and about how old is to guys.

There's nothing specific enough in the design or execution of this sort of tool (at least that I'm aware of) that would allow it to be placed in a specific time frame. If you had the rest of the stuff that was found there, you could come up with an idea, or a time span.

You might be able to come up with some pictures by googling Backed Knife (in regular search & Images).

Good luck !

Happy belated Veterans day appreciate your service sir. Nice knife/scrapper/tool. Those guys used them since the dawn of time. If the pottery was old it would give you a time frame. I always think its pretty cool that a place you metal detect also gives up ancient artifacts. I come across that also. It seems everyone through out time always picked some good spots to live. If we could look at a map of ancient to current sites I bet we could find some common denominators and many more places to hunt. Slight elevation, water and probably orientated toward the sun possibly with a mtn to break the wind.
Thanks for sharin IASoldier !
