What A Find 2 Mistakenly modified

Greetings All, & thanks for your replies to my earlier post,


when i spotted it in the mud, I was in a state of shock, I put my detector down, walked back to my truck & took a break to let my heart slow down.
Anyway, my other finds included 4 buttons, one of which is my 2nd napoleonic script infantry, 2 fids, 1 brass, 1 lead, (tools used to repair fishermans nets), 2 pocketknives,
a silver collar from a carving knife,(I am getting better at IDing my finds),
and 3 more copper nails & ship spikes.
Headed back today, good day to You all, & Great Digs ! Herbie.

maybe it was plated to counterfiet? It could be a large copper
I found an indian head penny that was plated1882- maybe just to try to throw it in with some others?

Well, now that you mention it, it sure does look like it may.
Will be pulling it back out for a closer look.

Yep it's a US button for sure I think it dates post rev war and probably no later than 1812. I think all rev war period buttons had USA and not US
