Was cold today, so my wife did research on the computer, and we found what may be a decent site, an OLD park where there used to be a lot of people gathering. Going tomorrow!

Now I am all excited about teasing a bit of history out of this area. Seems really silly, but what started out as a way to get some exercise is now becoming something I am getting very excited about! Can't wait to see what is in the earth there!

Is that how you feel after years of this? Do you still get excited when you find a new area to hunt? Or does it become more mundane?

Been hunting 37 years and still get excited the night before a hunt, even if it's a well hunted site. You just never know what the next target will be.

Google earth is very helpful when scouting for spots...
you can see trails and such that you may never knew existed before
plus alot of really cool add ons(sky, planets,Bigfoot reports, rtc.) really cool stuff

for me every outing is exciting..never knowing what i may find,or a new site gets me thinking about..ahhh shoot it's very exciting bottom line

Ive been doing this for three years and everytime i find a new spot to hunt i get excited thinking about what might turn up!

I've been hunting for 8 years and I still get "butterflies" in my stomach even if I'm going to the same beach I've hunted 100 times before.

sheesh I still get excited even about pulltabs so who am I to say? :sign10:

Yep....started detecting back early 80's....was lots of funn then..now, maybe a bit more challenging finding a good site...but still gives me that thrill.
Even going out to the same old, tiny park i hit from time to time...will I pull just one more piece of silver from it???????

Good, safe, hobby,
enjoy it,
Al

MAN ALIVE, :o IT'S THAT FEELING YOU GET WHEN YOU THINK YOU WON THE
LOTTERY, BUT SOME CASES YOU REALLY DO LOL :icon_king:

This past week my brother and I detected an old homesite we hadn't detected in over two years. It felt like we had never been there. Couldn't ground balance our machines fast enough!!

Well, went to the site today, the area is heavily developed now, except for a public walkway next to the river. We scanned quite a bit. Good news and bad news. The good news is we found some VERY old stuff! The bad news is none of it is very good! Only found one penny, and that was clad.

We are trying to find where the grandstand was. Have conflicting reports on the old maps, and it is hard to tell just how close it was to the river. I think we may move to the side of the walk way that is closest to the river next time and try our luck there, as the other side just gave up junk. Not willing to count out this site just yet!

Was a fun time. Took my youngest, and he had a blast, and my wife came along too. She had a lot of fun running the detector and pulling up bits of history. I think I see another MD purchase in our future! If I can find something valuable, I will but a more expensive detector for myself, and let her have my ACE. She seems born to use it!
