Was out hunting a few gold rush era mining sites and noticed what appeard to me as a leveled area that may have been used as a camp. Took my Tesoro Umax and started detecting the area at first only square nails and peices of rusty tin...I switched it to disc mode and thought I'd just cherry pick for non ferrous. After about 10 more rusty old pieces of tin I got a nice smooth non ferrous signal ..close to the surface...digging down maybe and inch or two out came out this beautiful wreath buckle ...the inspector bench mark is 51..some gold gilt still survived and in very good condition. If anyone has any information to add about this buckle I would appreciate it. After some research on TreasureNet I found another forum member " Scrappy " who found The tongue part of the 2 piece buckle with an Eagle on it an beleive an anchor..his also had the #51 !
