I found this in an old field in Shippensburg, PA. It is Iron and magnetic. The field has history from the 1700's all the way until now although it has not been actually farmed in a very long time. Any idea on what this is and how old it may be? Depth doesn't matter I know , but this has not been plowed in decades if not longer and it was a ways down. Here are the photos I was able to take before my camera died with a ruler for size wise.

Definitely a hand tool for farming, me thinks. It looks like it has a hole for a wooden shaft/wedge set-up. Couldn't even guess age or proper use. Maybe a door-stop :tongue3:

At least you didn't post a pic because if your computer isn't child safe that could be a scary search.

It's a dirty hoe. sorry couldn't resist my grandfather had one like that a good cleaning should determine if it was blacksmith Made. Looking into the hole where the handle goes you will see the layers of iron looking like wood grain if it was handmade
