What are these? Iron from old home site.

Found these iron items while detecting the old early 1800's house foundation located on my property. Some kind of bracket? It's just a long shot but I figured I'd show these since there are many experienced, knowledgable MD's posting here. Thanks in advance. Pictures of the site coming this weekend.

They look like part of a saddle or the stuff that goes in the horse's mouth to me but I'm probably wrong.

First reaction is some sort of horse tack. Leather straps might have gone through the rectangular slots ? Just a guess. Are you in farm country ?

Yes, I'm in SW Pa. Definitely rural area with local churches going back pre-1776. My neighbor up the road has horses. Think I'll go up and show her. Just might be. Thanks to the posters. Gives me some direction. Returning to the site this weekend to detect and dig what is either privy area or trash pit. Pictures to follow.
