too funny...I was looking at it thinking "it looks like a grommet of some sort" and read the first reply and that is exactly what was posted word for word. Of course with the confirmation from PBK it looks like we were right! :thumbsup:

How big is it? To me it looks like a piece to a saddle, the cloth reminds me of the same cloth that the girth is made of.

pbk has it correct.
but, those type of grommets were used on saddles, tack, saddle bags, mail bags, briefcases, military vehicle covers, tarps, tents.
i am sure i missed some.

they are made of brass and about a inch long and half a inch wide thanks for the ideas I sure don't know ???

If I had to give odds, I'd say they were from a saddle, where the cinch goes through the leather. Could be CW time period. What's the material inbetween the halves?
