What are these?

I found these two relics metal detecting yesterday. The "C" looking piece was found near a known road that civil war troops marched along. Thanks for any help!

If the one piece is threaded on both ends, it a part of a turn buckle.

The C looking thing might be a C. May have been on equipment as company designation or part of Co. or Corps. Any attachment points on the back?

No attachments or anything. It just looks like a "C" that was hammered out from a piece of metal
