I have an Xterra which loves dimes, so I find far more of them than nickels. I suspect that some dimes get left behind by other hunters because on some detectors they ring up the same as a penny. Modern quarters lag behind dimes for me. I have yet to find a silver quarter.

So there is nothing at all wrong in respecting history.

I go through phases in my detecting feelings. I have an excel spreadsheet that I will record when I am in the record keeping phase. Coin numbers are around 60% pennies 20% dimes 15% quarters 5% nickels. That is numbers off the top of my head because I haven't used the spreadsheet in awhile.
