What camera would be good for recording metal detecting expeditions?

My wife and I would like to record our metal detecting/ sifting adventures and upload to Youtube for others to enjoy. Particularly while there is still life in our latest 17th century site. Would like to mount the camera on my baseball cap and be able to record close ups of our finds. That latter part is particularly important to me. I see so many videos with crappy close ups. I use a Macbook if that makes any difference in editing the recordings. Can someone steer me in the right direction? Quality resolution on the close ups is a must. Thanks in advance for the help.
 

It seems like everyone is successfully using GoPro's.
 

No, the GoPros do not do macro video. They have a fixed focal length that is something like 1 foot to infinity. You can get close, but you can't super close or as close as really want if you are trying to show the detail in something you dug.
