First I thought this was a button. But, I don't think so. What could it be? The back says Riley & Osburn N J. what 002.webpwhat 003.webpwhat 004.webp

It is a button of sorts. It is a man's shirt stud.

Never thought of that. But do believe you are right. Wonder what the FVH mean.

It is a franternal organization started in 1872.

Could be late 19th to early 20th C. That is when Riley & Osborn appear to have been in business.

Very cool find.

Well, I found it on my own property. Looks like many years ago people dumped stuff in the woods. It has been a small field since I can remember, about 70 years. Maybe I can find the other one. Lots of poor signals and iron. But, what the heck, sandy and easy digging. That would be so cool.

I am sure you got it right. I can find nothing like it on the net. But from the things I do see are mentioned, the scull( on the top right) and the eagle on the crossed swords. And yes, FVH is Fidelity, Valor and Honer. I think this is really old and rare.

It's a lapel pin, old ones are more like buttons that's why there a button hole on the lapel of suit jackets.
