What causes these lines in quartz? Nature or man?

Not exactly sure what you mean, but what I see is some crystal structure left over after it has been heavily fractured. Completely natural fracturing. The dark reddish stuff in the cracks is probably iron staining.

That's correct, it's natural fracturing when the quartz was originally in situ.
