What do you find with your Tesoro?

Newfiehunter there, in my opinion is no coil made that will pinpoint as close as the clean sweep. No BS when you hit a tone/metal object you just keep swinging and backing up until the tone just stops and the item is within about a half inch in front and center of the coil. Its awesome only bad thing is you do lose some depth, which really doesn't bother me cause I'm going after the newly deposited jewelry on the beaches.

I use lots of brands and even some cheap imports.

But Tesoro has over the years produced the most and best finds for one exception. I did dig a massive gold jewelry piece with a Nautilus IIb that all other machines I had missed.

My biggest Tesoro finder was actually the DeLeon. I dug loads of old coins and pieces of jewelry with it. I really enjoyed using it.

At the time I sold it I was really sorry. I didn't have bad back problems at that time so I should of kept it.

Tesoros do well because thier easy to learn and use and they get decent depth.

And too, due to lack of tones, you have to dig a lot more and therefore you find things you may have missed with a tone machine (false signal sounds due to trash masking).

Tesoros sound off on many large pieces of iron and in digging them sometimes one finds something masked but it. Where a stronger discriminator machine might totally miss the item.

Today I have a bad back and can no longer use a Tesoro. I need much stronger discrimination.

Nice finds gold fish!!

I don't understand the stronger discrimination thing. Tesoros have the best discriminators on the market.

My Tesoro finds everything because I dig everything. Because I dig everything, I find I'm digging items passed over by those who tend to let the tones and meters do the thinking for them. Tesoros are amazing little machines and the people who work for the Company are fantastic as well (that's from the Giffords right down to the Dealers (at least the ones I've dealt with). Look in the Best finds topic for samples of what my Bandito II has found over the years.

Wow!! OBX those are some finds!! Congrats!

I don't have the photos of my Tesoro finds on this computer but over the 40 years of my detecting the very best finds (except one) were made with Tesoros.

Last year I found a giant rose gold chain with the Nautilus IIB. This is that one exception.

Tesoro has a very unique system, that's for sure.

Some of my Tesoro finds dug in northern Michigan:

1. 1750's French Trader knife (dug 2005 with the DeLeon)

2. 1750's cannonball small approx. 2" dia. (dug 2005 w/DeLeon)

3. 300+ lbs. of lumberjack relics - including 3 complete 6' crosscut saws/blacksmith tools, etc. (dug 2005 w/DeLeon)

4. approx. 100 early wheat cents (2005 DeLeon)

5. 6 rings - 114K heavy gold men's signet style 2Sterling 3plated (2007 dug with Tejon)

6. 7 IH's with 2 dated 1865 (dug 2007 with the Tejon)

7. 1 large flintlock pistol (dug 2008 with Silver uMax & 10x12 coil 2 1/2 feet deep).

8. 1 ancient Roman coin - AVATAR (dug 2008 with Silver uMax & 10x12 coil).

This is all I recall right now I'd call best finds with any one detector. I've found lots of other coins over the years with Tesoros such as some silver and large cents.

I'll say this, whenever I've worked any site over with a Tesoro I've found very little when I rehunted that same site with another brand. Again, there was only a few exceptions to that statement but they could simply be due to changes in soil conditions over the winter months.

Since this thread was started by Newfiehunter, I feel it's appropriate to show this coin that I found with my Cortes.

Wow Dan B that is a nice piece of Newfoundland silver you have there!! It's nice to see that on this forum!!

Just a few days ago I found guess a 1945 wheat cent, a 1945 Newfoundland silver 5 cents and a 1945 Newfoundland 10 cents in one hole!! Weird! Anyway Im getting closer to hitting 200 Newfoundland coins found. Not only that I find nice Canadian, British, French and even American coins (mercury dimes, an indian head, a buffalo nickel, a barber dime, and 2 walking Liberty halves)!

Our last coins were minted in 1947 two years before joining Canada, for those who are curious about our extinct currency!

Reading these post inspires me to get out tommorow morning with my Deleon.......been rough weather down here in South Louisiana, time to have a day of relaxing! I have a good feeling I'm going to find something really nice tommorow! Cheers, Shane

I have to say Tesoro is the best for me, i have the cibola and im amazed what i find and the depth mine. one buddy has the whites 4 and i destroy him, when going out ,and i got to say this machine keeps up with the white spectrum as well im glad i that my machine (cibola) keeps up with others that cost over 600 dollars. I was worried that i couldnt find gold rings with it, but after i found a 22k gold ring and a 14k gold braclet i sleep with mine.. my old lady wasnet very happy when she seen a metal detctor in out bed, but my old lady cant find money with her feet.... Now my next detector will be the tiger shark, My 11 yr old daughter wants to go with me all the time and im happy for that. i now get to buy a new one..

I just got back from England where I was detecting on farm fields with my Silver Sabre uMax. I got some nice finds such as a Roman brooch from the 1st or 2nd century and a Roman coin. Also got some hammered silver coins dating from around 1320 to 1620, and buckles, thimbles, etc. However, I didn't feel like my machine had the depth of machines other people were using. Plus I wasted a lot of time digging iron and shotgun shells. Anytime iron was more than an inch or two deep, it sounded like a solid target.
If I go back again, I will probably upgrade to a Cortes. When there is more field to detect than I could possibly cover, I want to be able to descriminate out iron and notch out shotgun shells. Plus, I would hope a Cortes would have more depth than a Silver Saber.
Someone set up a Minelab for me and I used it for half of a day, but didn't really care for it. When you are use to a beep or no beep, the constant changing sounds from the Minelab were hard to adjust to, and the pinpoint was not nearly as good as the tesoro. When it started to rain and I put a plastic bag over the Minelab controls, I could no longer read them, so I went back to my detector.

This is my best find with my Silver uMax. It's valued at around $200 -$400 depending on the grade. I also found a nice silver crucifix this year. I consistently find 30 or more coins in a 3 hour trip with it.

The key with this is to dig the targets and quit worrying about what they are. Dig good strong signals and you'll find treasure.

Wow - those are very nice finds. That large cent is amazing. I like the coloring of it. It's almost better than if it looked brand new.

Cibola is all that for the price...with everything i found i paid my machine off in my first summer and now buying a new tesoro so my daughter or nephew can join me in the thrill

I paid for my Silver uMax this summer also in just a couple months. More than paid for it actually. Try doing that with a Minelab - much tougher.
