what does I S mean ? SILVERPLATED ?

ok so i heard IS means international silver.is this a grade of plating?.this is very confusing because there is also a company named international silver.then the IS is made to look like a hallmark. so once aND FOR ALL .IS is good like sterling or crappy plated ?

I S does indeed mean "international silver", they are a company that has made plated since the 40's or 50's. If it is actually sterling it will be marked as such.
