I get asked allot and I do mean allot of dumb questions about what im doing in the water. Today someone asked if I had a crab finder???? A week back someone asked if I was looking for pearls?? and maybe a month or so someone asked I crap you not if I was looking for hermit crabs??? Are these common questions for the every day hunter?

I was hunting a street tearout last week, I was asked when can they drink the water....apparently there was a boil water notice, and I was the one with the answer.:dontknow: Snowbird season is coming to an end, we will have our roads and beaches back before too long.

"Can it find gold"

Yes, it can, it's a metal detector and I'm pretty sure gold is a kind of metal :)

Of course, I'm pretty nice to tourists or anyone who is nice to me when I'm metal detecting, I'm always ready to answer questions as long as they are not, "Why can't you find somewhere else to dig!!!??"

"Found anything yet?" ... "Seen any sharks yet?" :icon_scratch:

Traveled to Michigan last summer from TN. Was MDing a large plowed field when 2 women stopped. When I got close to them the driver got out and approached me. She asked and I kid you not... "how many arrowheads have you found with that? I've always wanted to try what your doing". And YES.... she was a blonde!!!! No wonder they get a bad rap... :laughing7:

Was asked what kind of "weed whacker" I was using because it was the quietest they'd ever heard and wanted one.

in my ski school days.."where does the white go when the snow melts?"and"what altitude do the deer become elk?""what are the moguls made out of?"

detecting..."ever find anything?"answer...not yet
"is tha a geiger counter?"...answer..yes...run

Q - what are you ding with that machine in the surf..?

A - checking for radiation...

Ha ha. These are the best, love the weed whacker one. And yes Dave soon Florida beaches will be less packed which is good and bad.As goofy as tourist can be I am thankful for them being here and leaving some good finds=)

"Will that thing pick up sharks teeth?" to which I replied "only if he had filings"!!!! He looked at me like a hog looking at a wristwatch

These are not necessarily "dumb" questions...

These are THE questions asked... the most anyway...

#1. Find anything / Find any treasure ?
#2. How much does one of those things cost ?
#3. Does it just find gold and silver ?

Should have said, "Nah. I would have had to pay extra for that option."

Not asked of me, but the dumbest question I hear up here in tourist season is 'Does this bus go to Breckenridge?' 'Breckenridge' is on a light bar by the door and on a big flashing light bar on the front of the bus. Question most often asked of me when I'm out in the woods in Summit County: 'Is it always this cold up here in July?'.
