They were a hot topic in the media when looking for the lost 1715 boat near Amelia Island some years back.

Did it not pan out or are they still looking or did the state pull a fast one? What happened to that operation?
Ivan Salis found it. All he could hope for is movie rights if applying for a grant to have university archaeologist (and students) do the work/study.

I might be mistaken, so feel free to correct me if I am wrong.
I think I remember reading somewhere that the state did dive the wreck & were " pestered " by a couple of large Bull Sharks. I do not know if they have returned.

Don't remember, not surprising though, especially if college students were involved. It would have been good to have movie rights to show people what happens when archies get the wreck.

Not sure, he had been a little while back.

Never fear, Amelia Research, Doug Pope, his partners and the jack-up barge Polly L are alive and well.
Well, Polly got beaten up by a unsecured 300 ft freighter during the last big storm, but Doug and his crew are closing in on getting her back to ready condition.
She will be heading south to Jupiter as soon as they can get her finished....or so I am told.

Are they still searching around Amelia isnt or did they give up on that endeavor?

As far as I know, Polly L was stacked for a few years there in Green Cove Springs, so I am going to say that they were on sabbatical at least, but certainly had ceased operations for a time.
I don't think anyone ever gives up a wreck idea....we are just always awaiting new information!!

I heard the state cancelled Scott Thompson's permit on the Jupiter wreck.

Thanks for the update. I stand corrected.

I remember the coin photos.

Jason, are you going to the cookout?

I hope so but I'm not certain yet. Been a few years since I have seen you.
