Yesterday I stopped at this bank that every so often will have some half cwr's and is always excited to get rid of them. I pick up about $190.00 of rolls and take them home to search.. I found my first bicentennial S half so happy about that and then I find these other two and I can't figure out what happened? They feel silver and produce that silver tone, but Kennedy's face is gone. It's like the top layer of coin was taken off. Hopefully some can throw in a theory.. Here are the pics.. 20191010_111151.webp20191010_110940.webp20191010_110840.webp20191010_110957.webp

I got one of these ground down ones in one of my boxes last week, never seen any others like it. Also sounded like silver.

It wouldn't make any sense to grind down the portrait. I think it was cut off to use in jewelry.

Agree PMD for jewelry or what ever

They look like shadow coins. But it would be interesting to figure out...
