If you're in east tx, you might want to google oilfield photos. The company's name escapes me but they did a lot of aerial photography mapping for oil. Also, make friends with your county's road and bridge guys. Ive gotten aerials from the 50s on some of my spots.

Netronline has old topography maps not the easiest to use, but once you learn it it is very helpful.
